Japan airport luggage delivery: same-day cutoffs, prices and sending bags back to the airport

Haneda to your hotel, same day: hand the bag over at a Yamato counter at Haneda (Yamato's page lists Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 with a 18:30 deadline; confirm at the counter which service that deadline applies to) by 11:00; it is delivered after 18:00 to staffed hotels in Tokyo's 23 wards and listed areas (parts of Yokohama and Chiba, Kawasaki, Urayasu, Funabashi, Ichikawa and Narashino).

Haneda same-day prices (cash, tax included), central Tokyo hotel / other areas: size 120 ¥4,490 / ¥4,800; size 160 ¥5,170 / ¥5,780; size 180 ¥6,890 / ¥7,540. Yamato's general same-day page quotes ¥5,780 for size 160 to the 23 wards, so budget the higher figure unless the counter confirms the central-Tokyo rate for your hotel.

Tokyo to Haneda, same day: drop the bag at one of 7 Tokyo sales offices (Ningyocho, three in Ginza, Shinagawa Prince Hotel and two in Shinjuku) by 11:00 and collect it at Haneda 17:00–23:00 (domestic flights 17:00–21:00), from 3 hours before departure. Size 160 costs ¥5,780. There is no same-day service to Narita.

Limits and exclusions: up to 200 cm and 30 kg, and a declared value up to ¥300,000. No delivery to convenience stores, Airbnb or hotels without a staffed desk.

Narita to your hotel, same day: hand the bag over at the Terminal 1 or 2 counter by 10:30, or the Terminal 3 counter by 9:50. It is delivered between 18:00 and 21:00 the same day, to Tokyo (not the remote islands) plus Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa and Yamanashi. You cannot choose a narrower time slot, it may be declined for a one-night stay, and a ¥660 counter fee applies.

Hotel to the airport (standard Airport TA-Q-BIN): size 160 from the Kanto area to Narita or Haneda costs ¥3,680, including the ¥660 airport fee. Send it 2 days before departure (3 from some areas); it arrives the day before your flight.

Bigger bags from Narita: JAL ABC from Narita to an address in Kanto costs ¥2,820 for size 160 (up to 30 kg) and takes bags up to 240 cm and 50 kg (¥7,000 at 240 cm). Delivery is the next day at the earliest.

The Haneda Terminal 3 pickup counter is on the 2nd floor until 29 November 2026 and on the 1st floor from 30 November 2026.

Haneda by 11:00, hotel in Yokohama, Kawasaki, Urayasu or the listed Chiba cities: same-day delivery at the other-areas rate, ¥5,780 for size 160.

Narita, at the counter by 10:30 (Terminal 3 by 9:50), going to Tokyo or a listed prefecture: same-day delivery between 18:00 and 21:00, at Yamato's standard charge plus the ¥660 counter fee. Staying two nights or more makes acceptance likelier.

Arriving after the cutoff: use standard delivery, which arrives the next day or later, and keep tonight's essentials in a day bag. Yamato's page lists Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 with a 18:30 deadline; confirm at the counter which service that deadline applies to.

Staying at an Airbnb or an unstaffed property: carry the bag, or send it to a Yamato sales office and collect it yourself.

Flying home from Haneda with the bag at a Tokyo hotel that morning: drop it at one of the 7 Tokyo offices by 11:00 and collect it at Haneda from 17:00 (¥5,780).

Flying home from Narita: send the bag from the hotel 2 days before (3 from some areas) for ¥3,680.

A bag over 200 cm or 30 kg arriving at Narita: use JAL ABC instead of Yamato. To an address in Kanto it costs ¥4,240 for a bag up to 180 cm and 50 kg, ¥5,030 up to 200 cm, ¥5,820 up to 220 cm and ¥7,000 up to 240 cm, and it arrives the next day at the earliest.

1. Arrival: you land at Haneda Terminal 3 at 08:40 and are out by 09:10–09:40. Two bags: A is 75 × 50 × 33 cm = 158 cm and 22 kg (size 160); B is 55 × 40 × 20 cm = 115 cm and 12 kg (size 120). Your hotel is staffed and in central Tokyo.

2. Same day: at the Terminal 3 counter by 11:00, the cost is ¥5,170 + ¥4,490 = ¥9,660, delivered after 18:00. If the counter says the hotel is outside the central-Tokyo zone, the other-areas rates apply: ¥5,780 + ¥4,800 = ¥10,580.

3. Decision: our view is to send bag A and carry bag B onto the train (¥5,170). You have your essentials with you and can still go sightseeing without the big case.

4. Going home: your Narita flight is on Saturday at 18:00. Yamato has no same-day service to Narita, so hand bag A to the hotel desk by Thursday, two days before, for ¥3,680. It waits for you at Narita from Friday.

5. If the flight were a 21:30 departure from Haneda: keep the bag until Saturday morning, drop it at the Shinjuku Hyakunincho office by 11:00 (¥5,780) and collect it at the Haneda counter from 18:30. Pickup runs 17:00–23:00 and starts three hours before your departure.

Same-day delivery exists only at selected counters and for selected destinations, each with its own cutoff. Miss the cutoff and normal delivery arrives the next day or later.

At Narita, a ¥660 counter usage fee (tax included) applies on top of the delivery charge. Haneda's same-day prices are listed in the key facts. Yamato's Narita FAQ was checked on 8 October 2026.

Yamato says delivery can run late in bad weather, heavy traffic or at busy times, so keep tonight's essentials with you.

Yamato pays the lower of the repair cost or current market value, and only repairs for damaged wheels or handles.

For standard Airport TA-Q-BIN from a hotel to the airport, send the bag at least two days before departure, three from some areas, so that it reaches the airport by the day before the flight. Confirm the hotel can hand the shipment over; if not, use a convenience store or a Yamato sales office.

Yamato also runs same-day delivery to Haneda from seven Tokyo sales offices (drop by 11:00, collect from 17:00), and says it doesn't offer same-day delivery to Narita.

Yamato can accept a parcel that your accommodation can't receive. It doesn't deliver to Airbnb-type rentals, convenience stores or hotels without a staffed front desk, so ask your hotel before you hand the bag over.

1. Measure each bag: length + width + height. Note the size (120, 160 or 180) and the weight.

2. Ask your first hotel: "Can your front desk receive a Yamato delivery for me on [date] after 18:00?"

3. Note your cutoff: 11:00 at Haneda, or 10:30 (9:50 at Terminal 3) at Narita. Arriving later? Pack tonight's essentials in your carry-on.
