What needs to work on your Japan trip?

A locked or non-eSIM phone rules out an eSIM before any price comparison matters. Confirm unlock status and eSIM support while you can still change the plan.

Order delivery, profile installation, plan activation and first network connection are separate. Knowing the stopped state prevents the wrong fix.

Separate data, your home number and a Japanese number
A data eSIM cannot receive a code addressed to your existing home number. A real Japanese voice-and-SMS line is a third product with its own fulfilment route.

For a longer stay, decide data or a number
A real Japanese number introduces an identity and handoff route. Past a provider's travel-plan limit, the document you can present may matter more than the data allowance.

Then how the group moves
One rented router is one shared connection. If the people who need to stay in contact will be in different places, the number of connections is decided by behaviour, not by budget.

Then arrival and departure
A late landing can miss a pickup counter, and some returns must be completed before airport security. Both are deadlines attached to a flight.

Unlimited is a marketing word. Find the daily high-speed allowance and the speed after it, on whichever product you choose.
