Red rhubarb, jam and a rice-flour pound cake

Looking for bright red rhubarb, Haruru found some from Nagano on Mercari. She enjoyed its sweet-tart flavour with yogurt, then tried the jam in a rice-flour pound cake.

From haruru.1002’s past accounts.

Looking for bright red rhubarb

Haruru could not find the bright red rhubarb she wanted in the supermarkets in Karuizawa. Searching Mercari, she found red rhubarb from Nagano.

She thought the flavour would be much the same, but the red colour still particularly appealed to her.

Sweet-tart jam with yogurt

Haruru enjoyed its sweet-tart flavour with yogurt, another way to savour the rhubarb.

Trying it in a rice-flour pound cake

This time she tried the jam in a pound cake. Its sweet-tart flavour went well with the simple rice-flour batter, and she was pleased with the result.

Her lighthearted note about praising her own work reflects that satisfaction.

The finished-cake photograph is labelled “rhubarb and cranberry pound cake”. The photos also record the batter before baking, the freshly baked cakes, and the sliced and wrapped finished cakes.
