Back to Jimantei for yakisoba: three visits from Haruru’s diary

A familiar dish after a while, the choice of something else to order, and the pleasure of being remembered. Haruru’s three return visits to Jimantei capture both her impressions of the food and the feelings that stayed with her.

A milder taste that day, but still wanting to return

In an account of recent noodle meals, Haruru had moyashi soba and her usual soft yakisoba at Jimantei. The flavour seemed a little mild to her that day, yet she still wanted to return. The full article also features wonton noodles from a restaurant she visited for the first time, as well as other ramen meals, along with her impressions of each.

What to order with yakisoba on a rainy day

On another, rainy visit, she arrived as the restaurant opened. She enjoyed yakisoba after a long interval and, after some deliberation, chose nikuniratama, a meat, chive and egg dish, to go with it. Afterwards, she wondered with a laugh whether her choices had been a little similar and decided to think about her order before the next visit.

A stop on the train journey, and a welcome to remember

In a separate entry, Haruru got off the train especially for soft yakisoba. A “準備中” (“closed for preparation”) sign was out, but someone at the restaurant remembered her, and she was fortunate to be welcomed that day. It was a particular experience that made her happy.

After bottled beer and small dishes, she enjoyed the yakisoba and ordered some to take away for a friend. On the train home, she wrote about feeling grateful for the people who supported her.
