A cooler summer outing at Hinohara Tomin no Mori

Expecting crowds during the summer holiday, Haruru searched for somewhere nearby to enjoy herself. She chose Tomin no Mori for her first visit and found a welcome feeling of coolness among the trees.

From haruru.1002’s account shared in August 2019, edited with permission.

A first visit among the green trees

The entrance sign in her photograph reads Hinohara Tomin no Mori. Other views record the leafy paths, forest buildings and a wooden bridge over a small stream.

She enjoyed the hiking and said it had been some time since she had been able to say how cool it felt.

Bouldering was harder than it looked

There were woodworking classes and a chance to try bouldering alongside the hiking.

Watching the climbing wall had made it look manageable. Once she tried, however, she found it much harder than expected and came off the wall almost immediately. It left her thinking that she needed to train more.

A chilled snack before the next stop

She also enjoyed a chilled dengaku snack. Her photograph shows the skewers arranged in a round container.

Her next planned stop was a hot spring, with a one-hour wait ahead.
