USJ Super Nintendo World timed entry: free app tickets, the standby lottery and Express Passes

What to know first
Yes, on most days you need an Area Timed Entry Ticket as well as your Studio Pass. It's free in the official USJ app once you're inside the park, until they run out; or it comes included with selected Express Passes, from ¥12,200 per person, if you need it guaranteed. Register everyone's Studio Pass in the app together so you all get the same time. If timed tickets run out, the app may offer a Standby Entry lottery: request it at least an hour before the time you want, and no later than three hours before the park closes.

Area entry: an Area Timed Entry Ticket (free, same-day, in the app, from inside the park) or advance entry included in selected Express Passes. Park admission is always separate.
Standby Entry lottery: request it at least 1 hour before the entry time you want. It is issued until 3 hours before the park closes, winners aren't chosen in order of request, and you can't request one if you already hold an Area Timed Entry Ticket.
After a ticket is issued: the time, number of tickets and area can't be changed; uninstalling the app before use makes the ticket invalid; there is no transfer or resale; and the party can't get another ticket until the current ticket time has passed.
1 Day Studio Pass: adults (12 and over) from ¥8,400; children (4–11) from ¥5,500; the price varies by date.
Express Passes with Super Nintendo World entry: Express Pass 5: Adventure Special from ¥12,200 and Express Pass 4: Theater & The Flying Dinosaur from ¥14,800 (the same price for all ages; varies by date). Express Pass 4: Backdrop & The Flying Dinosaur, from ¥10,800, does not include entry.
Height limits in the area: Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge 107 cm and over (107–122 cm with a supervising guest); Yoshi's Adventure 92 cm and over.

Choose how to get into Super Nintendo World
Super Nintendo World is the reason you're going and you can't risk missing it: buy a Studio Pass plus an Express Pass marked as including Super Nintendo World entry.
You'd like it but can take a chance: buy a Studio Pass only, and request a timed ticket in the app the moment you're through the gate.
The app shows no timed tickets: request a Standby Entry lottery ticket at least an hour before the time you want.
You didn't win the lottery, or it's within 3 hours of closing: spend the day elsewhere in the park, because no ticket can be added later.
Your party arrives separately: register every Studio Pass in one app before requesting, so that you get one shared time.
Your child is under 107 cm: plan on Yoshi's Adventure (92 cm and over), not Mario Kart.
You're about to change phones or clean up apps: don't uninstall the USJ app until you've used the ticket.

Worked example: Studio Passes only, park open 08:00–22:00
1. Party: two adults, a 14-year-old and an 8-year-old who is 118 cm tall. Park hours that day: 08:00–22:00 (the hours shown on USJ's site on 8 October 2026; they vary by date).
2. Admission: the 14-year-old pays the adult price (12 and over), so from 3 × ¥8,400 + ¥5,500 = ¥30,700.
3. Option A, app only (¥0 extra): at 08:05, inside the park, request an Area Timed Entry Ticket for all four. If one is issued, be at the area entrance at the printed time.
4. No timed tickets left at 13:00? Request a Standby Entry lottery for, say, 17:00, which means requesting by 16:00. The last moment to get one is 19:00, three hours before the 22:00 close.
5. Option B, guaranteed: Express Pass 5: Adventure Special from ¥12,200 each, for all ages: 4 × ¥12,200 = ¥48,800. Total with admission: from ¥79,500.
6. Heights: at 118 cm the 8-year-old can ride Mario Kart (107 cm and over) with an adult beside them, because riders under 122 cm need a supervising guest.

Park admission and area entry are two different checks
A Studio Pass gets you into the park, but it doesn't guarantee entry to Super Nintendo World. Only selected Express Passes include area entry, and park admission is still needed with them. Area entry alone doesn't guarantee a ride, a meal or a shop purchase.

Register the whole party in the official app
USJ tells guests to register everyone's park admission ticket before requesting timed entry. You need the latest app and an internet connection, and same-day Timed Entry eTickets are available only from inside the park. Since 5 January 2026 the app has been required for same-day timed and standby tickets.
Other tickets for the same Timed Entry eTicket party can't be obtained until your current ticket time has passed. Uninstalling the app before you use the ticket makes it invalid.

If timed tickets run out: the Standby Entry lottery
In the app, check whether an Area Standby Entry Ticket is offered. It is a lottery, not a confirmed slot: request it at least one hour before the entry you want, and note that issuing ends three hours before closing. Winners aren't chosen in order of request.
If Standby Entry Tickets are issued separately within your group, only the number of people on the winning ticket may enter. USJ sometimes lets guests in without a ticket on quieter days, but don't build your plan on that.

Do I need a timed entry ticket for Super Nintendo World?
Usually yes. You need an Area Timed Entry Ticket, free in the official app once you're inside the park, or one included with selected Express Passes. USJ sometimes lets guests in without one on quieter days, but don't build your plan on that.
Can I get Super Nintendo World entry before I reach the park?
Only by buying an Express Pass that includes it, such as Express Pass 5: Adventure Special (from ¥12,200 per person). The free app tickets can only be requested from inside the park on the day.
How does the Standby Entry lottery work?
If timed tickets have run out, the app may offer an Area Standby Entry Ticket. Request it at least one hour before the time you want; they're issued until three hours before closing. Winners aren't chosen in order of request, and you can't enter if you lose. You can't request one if you already hold a timed ticket.
Can I change my Super Nintendo World entry time?
