Seasonal access at Shiretoko Goko Lakes

Season changes access as well as activities. In eastern Hokkaido, the official Shiretoko Goko Lakes listing closes the site for the winter season from early November to mid-April. Choose the region first, then confirm the exact attraction, transport, dates and operating conditions instead of applying one winter pattern to the whole island.

JR Hokkaido publishes the rail connection between New Chitose Airport, Sapporo and Otaru. Check the current service and seating arrangements.

Getting around

Check each intercity journey and its return connection. Shiretoko is an eastern-Hokkaido journey: an official winter example reaches Utoro Onsen from Memanbetsu Airport by the Shiretoko Airport Liner in about 140 minutes. Checked on 23 October 2026 for the winter 2026–27 service (16 January–7 March 2027). Check again by 23 November 2026, and before travel. This is not evidence that Shiretoko is a Sapporo or Otaru day trip.
