A full Chinatown lunch and a Christmas walk through Yokohama

Haruru spent a December day exploring Yokohama with her usual group of three. A long lunch in Chinatown left them full, but there was still plenty to see on the walk towards the waterfront.

From haruru.1002’s account shared in December 2017, edited with permission.

A long lunch at Yokohama Daihanten

They started at Yokohama Daihanten’s main restaurant for an order-style Chinese buffet. Haruru estimated that they stayed for about three hours.

There were more dishes than she could fit into her photographs. All three felt so full that they said they could not eat anything else.

A waterfront walk and a street performance

For a little exercise, they walked through Yamashita Park towards the Red Brick Warehouse.

A street performer stopped them along the way. Haruru enjoyed the act and the Japanese conversation so much that she felt a tip would be money well spent.

Christmas lights, shopping and an unexpected finish

The Red Brick Warehouse was crowded, and the Minatomirai lights made a beautiful impression. Her photographs record festive decorations, the illuminated Ferris wheel and lights reflected beside the water.

They wandered through the shops. Despite having said they could not eat any more, they ended the day with KFC.

There had been little wind, and the daytime weather felt comfortable. It was a cheerful outing with the city already in its Christmas mood.
