Two days in Yamanashi: hot springs, strawberries and Lake Kawaguchiko

Haruru set off by car for two days in Yamanashi with her usual group of three. The trip mixed time in the hot springs with fruit picking, mountain views and plenty of food.

From haruru.1002’s account shared in March 2018, edited with permission.

Shosenkyo first, then a night at Kasugai Onsen

Their first stop was Shosenkyo. Her photographs show the path beside the mountains and the river running between rocks and trees.

They continued to Kasugai Onsen, where she spent time relaxing in the baths. That evening, they watched a Chinese acrobatics show.

Strawberry picking and a clear view above the lake

The following morning, they ate breakfast early and took another bath. Before midday, they went strawberry picking, then drove on to Lake Kawaguchiko.

They took the ropeway Haruru called the Kachi Kachi Yama Ropeway to the observation area. The weather was clear, and she enjoyed the views. Her photographs include the lake and a snow-covered Mount Fuji.

A final taste of the trip at home

They shopped at a roadside station, had an early dinner and bought basashi, horse sashimi, from a butcher.

The basashi was eaten at home, giving the trip its final meal. Haruru remembered a relaxing journey with plenty of eating and laughter.
