An autumn meal on a return to 鶯啼庵

Haruru returned to 鶯啼庵 after several years. The mornings and evenings had grown cold enough for a winter coat. At this meal, she felt the portions were just right, a change from how she had felt about portions before.

From haruru.1002’s past accounts.

The “紅葉の宴” menu and tableware

The photographed menu is headed “紅葉の宴,” an autumn-leaf banquet. One colourful arrangement has red and yellow maple-leaf decorations. Blue-patterned plates and an earthenware pot with its lid set aside also appear in the photographs.

The tableware and presentation are part of the memory, alongside the food. The menu records this particular meal.

With winter already close

Another photograph shows flowers arranged before a gold screen, with flowing water visible through the glass behind.

With several events still ahead and a little over a month left in the year, Haruru reflected on how quickly the seasons and the year had passed.
