A hot-spring stay in Ueda and a rainy-day lunch in Karuizawa

Haruru’s one-night trip began with clear skies at a hotel in the mountains of Ueda. There was time for the hot springs and a generous dinner, followed by an unexpected change of plan the next morning.

A sunny arrival, a bath and a generous dinner

The clear weather made the first day feel especially pleasant. Haruru took a bath before dinner, then found that the meal was more than she could finish.

She had hoped to see the stars that night. Instead, clouds arrived, and the starry view she had been looking forward to did not appear.

Morning rain sent the trip towards Karuizawa

It was raining from the morning, so they changed their plans and headed for Karuizawa.

For lunch, they went to Mampei Hotel. Haruru had wanted to try eating there at least once, and the change in the weather brought that visit into the trip.

Lunch, a little shopping and a cup of coffee

She felt a little out of place at the hotel and found the meal rather expensive, but she enjoyed the food.

She also ended up having a coffee. She was not a coffee lover, but the atmosphere had drawn her in.

After lunch, they wandered through Karuizawa Ginza, bought some small items and headed home. Despite the clouds and rain, the chance to relax in the hot springs and eat well made it another enjoyable two-day trip.
