An Osu food walk: favourite dumplings and something new
An Osu food walk gave haruru.1002 a chance to revisit favourites and try a few new snacks. The day began and ended with shaved ice, with dumplings, fried chicken and other stops in between.

Start with a favourite, then see what catches your eye
Her first stop was a shaved-ice shop she had enjoyed before. She was glad to find it still there and returned to royal-milk-tea and mango flavours. Dumplings were another familiar part of her Osu visits.
She also described kebab, fried chicken from two shops, a chilled doughnut and a drink containing warabi mochi. The chilled doughnut was a new discovery; she particularly liked the milk flavour. These are her tastes and her choices on that outing, rather than a ranking of Osu’s shops.
Small stops added up to a full day of eating
Fried chicken, takosen and takoyaki were among the foods she enjoyed. One Taiwanese-dessert stop suited her less well, while the other snacks kept the day moving. She finished by returning to the first shaved-ice shop for another combination of flavours.
A familiar stop, something new that catches your eye, and room for a few extra tastes: that is the approach this outing suggests for an Osu food walk.
The dish she most wanted was unavailable
At Onimaru, she had hoped for an onigiri and hiyajiru. The hiyajiru was not being sold that day, even though it was the dish she most wanted. She still enjoyed the onigiri.
If one particular dish is the reason for your food outing, check that item with the exact shop for your date. A photograph from a past visit or an open shop does not establish that today’s menu includes it. If you are happy to browse instead, keep room for an alternative.
