One night in Osaka: favourite breakfast and laughter over takoyaki

Haruru.1002 travelled to Osaka for one night with a long-time friend, then met another friend who lived there. They had researched places to visit, but it was sharing food and laughing together that gave the trip its character.

From haruru.1002’s past Osaka account, edited with permission.

Old friends helped the plans come together

She took the Shinkansen with a friend she had known for nearly half a century. In Osaka, they joined another friend they had not seen for several years. Before leaving, she had researched places to go and asked colleagues for ideas.

She felt they managed to cover almost everything they had hoped to do, thanks to their Osaka friend’s help. The city’s railways had seemed complicated to her, and having someone alongside them made a difference. Her city photograph shows the exterior of Abeno Harukas.

Breakfast was the meal she wanted to repeat

She enjoyed the food throughout the trip, but the breakfast place stood out most. Everything she tried there impressed her. She wanted to eat more, although there was only so much room for one breakfast.

She left wanting to return to that place on another Osaka visit.

Hot sunshine, hot takoyaki and plenty of laughter

One shop was very crowded on the Saturday, and their friend suggested its rooftop. The weather already felt like summer: the sunshine was hot, and so was the takoyaki. She remembered them laughing so much that they had tears in their eyes.

Shopping added to the outing before the short trip ended. She described another satisfying Osaka visit and wanted to go again.
