A Nagaoka fireworks trip, with a night in Naeba
The Nagaoka fireworks were so close that Haruru could not fit them all into her phone camera. The display moved her to tears, and the trip continued with a night in Naeba and a full day of stops on the way back.

Fireworks that filled the view, then on to Naeba
Haruru travelled by bus to see the Nagaoka fireworks. Her seat for that visit had enough space for her to lie down and watch the display directly in front of her.
The fireworks felt almost too close for her phone camera to capture. She was overwhelmed by the view and wondered whether she would ever have another experience like it.
After the fireworks, the bus continued to Naeba Prince Hotel for the night.
Fukiware Falls and a busy day of stops
The following day began with a visit to Fukiware Falls. Her pictures record water spreading across the rocky river and a thatched shopfront marked いわな庵.
The route also included freshly picked corn, a large roadside station and a rusk factory visit before the bus returned to its meeting point.
It was a demanding schedule, but Haruru felt that the course had been full of worthwhile experiences.
Sweet corn and a memorable bowl of himokawa udon
At the corn stop, she managed to pack thirteen ears into her bag and was delighted by their sweetness. Her photographs show the corn with its green husks and an opened ear on a plate.
The beef himokawa udon was another highlight. The bowl had broad, flat noodles topped with meat, spring onions and seaweed.
The fireworks were the centre of the trip, but the food and next-day stops gave her plenty more to remember.
