A first meal at Kaisen Sansen in Musashi-Kosugi, with kakiage and green-yuzu zosui
Haruru had been looking forward to trying Kaisen Sansen in Musashi-Kosugi after a recommendation. Of the dishes she tasted in the small restaurant, prawn-and-negi kakiage and the final bowl of zosui became particular favourites.

Handwritten menus beyond the sliding door
Opening the sliding door of the restaurant in a residential area, she found a small room with a counter and two tables. Handwritten menus covered the walls, and there was a fish tank too.
She had been anticipating this first visit and ended her account by recalling another enjoyable outing.
Prawn-and-negi kakiage was her favourite
She enjoyed the sashimi, beef tataki and a dish of butter-cooked nagaimo topped with salmon and ikura. The grilled yellowtail collar and marinated small horse mackerel were more modest successes for her.
Her favourite was the prawn-and-negi kakiage. Among the many dishes she tried, this was the one she singled out for praise.
Finishing with green-yuzu zosui
The meal ended with chicken-and-mushroom zosui, a rice soup with plenty of chopped green yuzu. She loved its broth and flavour, remembering it alongside the kakiage.
On the train home she fell asleep and had to hurry off, just making it in time. Even that hurried end to the journey became part of her account of an enjoyable meal.
