A long-awaited monja meal at Moheji in Machida
Haruru had wanted to try Moheji in Machida for some time, but the queue had always made her give up. On a later evening, two groups were waiting, and she decided to stay.

The monja she had been waiting to try
She chose monja with mentaiko and mochi, adding cheese and garlic butter. The garlic butter was a staff recommendation, and she was pleasantly surprised by how well it went with the dish.
Alongside the monja, she ordered a mixed okonomiyaki. The photographs follow the meal from the ingredients in the bowl to the cooked dishes on the hot plate.
The squid starter that stood out
Her favourite part of the meal was the starter: thick squid tentacles cooked on the hot plate with butter and the squid’s innards, as she described them in her account.
The monja had brought her to the restaurant, but this starter was the dish she remembered most enthusiastically.
A menu photograph for another visit
After the okonomiyaki, she was too full to try more side dishes or an-maki, the rolled sweet she had wanted to order. She photographed the menu to think about her next visit.
Next time, she planned to order monja with a selection of side dishes. She left this meal with a few more things she wanted to try.
