Back to Karuizawa: six classmates, a villa meal and birthday cakes

The same group of six junior-high classmates returned to Karuizawa and stayed at the villa they had enjoyed the year before. They shared home-cooked food, celebrated a friend’s birthday with cakes, and walked among fresh greenery the next morning.

From haruru.1002’s past accounts.

Plenty of food, despite plans to make less

Haruru had made too much food the previous year and meant to prepare less this time. Even so, she still made plenty, and breakfast the next morning included leftovers.

The photographs include sliced meat on a floral plate, a dish in a white broth and a plate of mushrooms: details of meals shared at the villa.

Individual cakes for a birthday

One friend was celebrating a birthday. A whole cake needed to be ordered four days ahead on that occasion, so they chose individual cakes instead. The photograph shows different cakes on separate small plates.

They left out the candles at the birthday friend’s request.

A walk through fresh greenery after breakfast

After breakfast, they walked near the villa. Photographs of woodland branches and broad green leaves capture the fresh growth of the season.

They ate, walked, laughed and talked together. Haruru was glad to share another trip with the same friends.
