Beginning a Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Macau trip: arrival-night food and breakfast
Haruru set out on a five-night, six-day trip to Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Macau. After food at Narita and a meal from her purchases on the flight, she continued from Hong Kong to Shenzhen by taxi. Although it was late, food had been prepared for her arrival, and the first night left her very full.
From haruru.1002’s past accounts.
Food at Narita, then Hong Kong to Shenzhen
Before departure, she ate conveyor-belt sushi at Narita and bought a sandwich and a scone at Starbucks to eat on the flight. After meeting up in Hong Kong, she travelled on to Shenzhen by taxi.
Writing on a photograph reflecting on the journey describes an eight-hour trip in total and reaching the hotel after 22:00 local time. Those words recall the long journey before arrival.
Food waiting after a late arrival
Because it was late, Haruru had expected to go straight to bed without eating. Instead, a variety of food had been prepared, and she recalled eating more than she had expected on the first night.
The food photographs carry notes describing juicy xiaolongbao and eating five lamb skewers. A note on oysters with garlic says they were tasty despite the strong garlic, while the Peking duck is described as having plenty of meat and being substantial.
A dessert enjoyed again, and memories of fruit
A dessert photograph is described as a favourite from a previous occasion. Its note expresses surprise and delight at being able to enjoy it again so soon.
The melon-and-mango photograph also carries a note about how good the fruit tasted. Alongside the other food, dessert and fruit add to these memories of the trip’s beginning.
The breakfast she had been looking forward to
The next morning, Haruru ate her fill of the breakfast she had been looking forward to. Notes on the photographs describe part of the morning buffet and eating too much from the morning onwards.
Her caption ends by wondering whether she would be ready for lunch in another hour. From the arrival-night meal to breakfast, food was a memorable part of the trip’s beginning.
