Shaved ice, a shared lunch and cakes around Gakugei-daigaku
There was time to spare before all four friends arrived. Haruru and one friend went looking for a café near Gakugei-daigaku Station, spotted a shaved-ice sign and settled on a sweet start to their lunch outing.
From haruru.1002’s account shared in September 2025, edited with permission.
A sweet stop at Meguro Hiiragi before everyone arrived
The sign led them to Meguro Hiiragi, whose name appears on the menu board in Haruru’s photograph. She was pleased to find shaved ice still on offer in September and chose Uji matcha, sweet bean paste and milk.
For her, it was a perfect combination. The bean paste stood out especially, and she also praised the small ohagi. Her photographs bring together the tall bowl of ice, a taiyaki and two ohagi on a black plate.
Matterhorn cakes, followed by a neighbourhood walk
They were also able to eat the Matterhorn cake bought after queuing that morning. The photographed slice is labelled ダミエ, or Damier, with a chequered cross-section beneath its chocolate-coloured top.
Another cake photograph shows a boxed Baumkuchen and a cut portion on a plate. Its note remembers queuing before opening and getting the last one on that occasion.
After lunch they walked around Gakugei-daigaku before parting. Haruru was already thinking about taking more time to explore around Yutenji on a future outing.
Sources for this account
Haruru’s account shared on 24 September 2025 describes one outing with four school friends, a sweet stop before everyone arrived, shared food at base.707, a Matterhorn cake and a local walk. Two saved copies of that same dated account are treated as one outing. Meguro Hiiragi and Damier are legible in the photographs; Matterhorn’s own website confirms its name and Damier product name. Yutenji was a thought for another visit.
