Caramel-nut shaved ice at Tetsumaya, and a sandwich to remember
It was not the kind of day Haruru would usually associate with shaved ice, but she was already in the area. Inside Tetsumaya, the warmth of the room made a large bowl of caramel-nut ice feel just right.

Stopping at Tetsumaya while she was in the area
Haruru stopped at Tetsumaya because she had come that way, even though the weather did not feel particularly suited to shaved ice. The room was warm enough that the choice soon made sense to her.
Her photographs show the tiled roof and wooden entrance, followed by timber beams, motorcycle displays and an orange-and-chrome bike inside. The photographs bring the old-house setting and the bikes into the account alongside the bowl on the table.
Caramel nuts, warabi mochi and a scoop of vanilla ice cream
She chose caramel-nut shaved ice and added vanilla ice cream. Nuts covered the mound of ice, and she particularly liked their texture.
There was warabi mochi inside too. With the ice cream on top and the generous amount of shaved ice underneath, it was a bowl she was pleased to have stopped for.
A cheese-katsu sandwich for lunch on another day
In a separate account the following month, lunch was a cheese-katsu sandwich from Tamago Sandwich Kenkyujo. She had read enthusiastic reviews and decided to try it.
The meat was tender, and the cheese turned out to be cream cheese, which surprised her in a good way. She enjoyed it enough to think that next time she might choose the same sandwich again, even though the shop was known for egg sandwiches.
Sources for this account
Haruru’s accounts shared on 2 September and 6 October 2022 describe separate food experiences. Her Tetsumaya account names the caramel-nut shaved ice, warabi mochi and vanilla topping; four saved photographs show that visit. The sandwich account describes the tender meat and cream cheese. The regional tourism page confirms the name 鐵馬厩(てつまや).
