Lunch with classmates, then a walk through Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum

On April 4, Haruru went out with classmates to a restaurant recommended by a friend. Lunch, a walk through Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum and sushi to finish made a nearby outing into a day full of food and laughter.

A friend’s recommendation, booked three months ahead

The lunch had been booked three months ahead. A friend had recommended the restaurant, and the classmates came together for the meal.

The photographs record a building beyond the trees, garden chairs, bamboo-lined entrance decorations and parasols. The open menu on the table carries the name Café おきもと.

Choosing curry, while admiring everyone else’s orders

Everything looked tempting, and Haruru spent a long time deciding. She eventually chose curry, although the dishes ordered by the others still caught her attention.

She remembered the curry as delicious too. The photograph marked “my order” shows a large plate with rice and accompaniments, alongside a small container of sauce.

More dishes remembered in the meal photographs

The meal photographs also show a tray with rice and a small pot of food, triangular baked dishes, and drinks with baked sweets. The doria photograph carries a note calling it a personal favourite.

The curry Haruru chose that day was delicious too. The others’ dishes still caught her attention, and she looked forward to choosing doria on a future visit.

A walk through the museum after a full lunch

After lunch, the group moved on to Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, somewhere Haruru had wanted to visit for a while. She wrote that they walked a lot and felt they had worked off a little of the meal.

The photographs show a yellow vehicle beside a sign naming the museum, a shopfront with a tobacco sign, a bathhouse with a landscape painting, and interiors filled with bottles and household tools. The walk left photographs of rooms as well as buildings.

Sushi to finish, and another outing to look forward to

The day ended with sushi. Haruru thought some plates were expensive, but remembered the food as delicious enough to leave her satisfied.

She reflected on enjoying smaller amounts of good food, then admitted that she had eaten until full anyway. With laughter throughout the outing, staying close to home had been more than enough. She wanted to return for lunch and choose doria next time, while already wondering where the group might go next.
