Four hours, three wakasagi: a snowy outing and ramen on the way home

Four hours of fishing brought Haruru just three wakasagi. The snowy scenery around Mount Bandai and the ramen she enjoyed on the way home gave her more to remember than the small catch alone.

A February outing recalled in an April 2023 post, edited with Haruru’s existing permission.

Snowy scenery around Mount Bandai

The outing took her to the Mount Bandai area for wakasagi fishing. She later shared the February memory in an April post.

Her photographs show mountains streaked with snow beneath low clouds, a wide white foreground, and bare trees against a blue sky. They keep the winter scenery alongside the fishing story.

Four hours in the hut, with three fish to show for it

She fished in a hut for four hours and caught three wakasagi. It was a small result, one she described with a laugh in her note.

For another visit, she hoped to try fishing through a hole in the ice. That was something to look forward to next time, along with wondering how many fish she might catch.

Ramen to look forward to on the way home

The Kitakata ramen she ate on the way home was delicious. She joked that the ramen might be the reason she came on these outings at all.

A card behind the bowl bears the Japanese name うえんで. The photographs show slices of meat, green onion and other toppings over a light-coloured broth. The close view of the bowl keeps another part of the day’s enjoyment.
