From Torimoto to a fish dinner, then one last bowl of ramen

Wanting good yakitori, Haruru searched for a restaurant and chose Torimoto. She then looked for fish dishes and finished with ramen. Each stop left a different impression, with the pleasure of finding a restaurant she hoped to keep returning to.

Through the low entrance at Torimoto

Torimoto’s entrance was low enough that Haruru had to bend down to enter. The exterior raised her hopes. At the counter inside, she could not see the yakitori cooking, and the person taking the order seemed like a bartender to her.

She found the skewers neat and carefully assembled, and enjoyed their taste. Even so, that visit did not leave her wanting to return, so she looked for another restaurant.

A fish restaurant she hoped to become a regular at

Searching again, this time for fish dishes, Haruru found a place she loved. Its atmosphere, the couple running it, the food and the prices all appealed to her. It felt like the restaurant she had been hoping to find.

After the other customers left, they spent an enjoyable time talking with the couple. More than wanting another visit, she hoped to become a regular. The conversation was part of the pleasure of the meal.

Fish dishes named in the photo notes

The photographs are labelled with sardine sashimi, sardine rolls with ume paste, chopped sardines with miso, sardines simmered with chilli, and butter-cooked sardines. Another dish is labelled new-season bamboo shoots and wakame. Each has a short food note beside it.

Changing the plan for the last bowl

Searching once more for ramen, Haruru thought she had settled on a soy-sauce ramen restaurant. Then she found New Tantanmen Honpo and changed the plan, as it had been a while since her last tantanmen.

That particular bowl did not taste as she had hoped, although she finished it. Despite disappointment at the last stop, the earlier meals and the restaurant she had discovered left her happy and grateful for the enjoyable time.
