Back at Tamai: grilled food, a shiso rice ball and a retro room

Haruru was so absorbed in eating on her return to Tamai that she took only a few photographs. They keep the grill, a rice ball topped with shiso and the retro room from a meal she enjoyed with oolong tea.

A past return visit shared in an October 2022 post, edited with Haruru’s existing permission.

Back at Tamai for horumon

It had been a while since her last visit to Tamai for horumon. She enjoyed the food so much that taking photographs slipped her mind for most of the meal.

One of the few pictures shows meat and sausages on a round grill, with glowing charcoal below. It keeps a close view of the food that drew her attention during the visit.

Miso and shiso on a grilled rice ball

The grilled rice ball was another dish she enjoyed. She liked how the miso and shiso worked together.

Its photograph is simple: a browned rice ball on a metal plate, covered by a large green leaf. The small dish earned its own place in her memories of the meal.

A retro room and an unexpected guitar

Haruru liked the room’s Showa-era retro atmosphere. Her interior photograph shows wooden walls, hanging lights and old-style advertising signs.

A roaming guitar player appeared during the visit. She enjoyed the atmosphere and the sense of nostalgia it brought to the meal.

Oolong tea for the meal

She was driving that day, so her drink was oolong tea. She enjoyed the grilled food and the room’s nostalgic atmosphere.

For a future visit, she hoped to enjoy a beer herself. It was a thought for another visit, after the grilled food and good atmosphere of this visit.
