An early start, a three-tier bento and plans for Mitama no Yu

Haruru finally put a three-tier bento container to use after it had sat unused since she bought it. She got up early to prepare dishes and rice balls for an outing towards Mitama no Yu in Yamanashi.

From haruru.1002’s past accounts.

Putting the container to use

The three-tier container had never been used since she bought it. That morning, she got up early to make a bento.

Her destination was Mitama no Yu in Yamanashi. She was pleased with the clear weather as she recorded her preparations.

Packing a variety of dishes

Her account lists garlic karaage she described as floury, corn, aubergine wrapped in pork, a thick omelette, meatballs and courgette cooked in olive oil.

These were the dishes she had prepared for the bento.

Salmon rice balls and a much-valued pickling bed

She flaked grilled salmon for the rice balls and made them with Rokusuke salt.

She also packed cucumber pickled in a rice-bran bed she described as thirty years old. She hoped it would continue to be passed on.
