A nearby summer drive, river views and an early hot-spring stop
For a drive after some time, Haruru headed somewhere about an hour from home. The weather and scenery were lovely, though the day was very hot. Shaved ice and a hot-spring stop helped make the nearby outing a refreshing break.

Beautiful views and quickly melting shaved ice
About an hour's drive from home, Haruru enjoyed beautiful scenery in clear weather. The photographs retain views of a river, green banks, hills, blue sky and white clouds.
The heat was hard to miss, however. She wrote that even the shaved ice she loved melted almost immediately.
Smaller views of a shopfront and a table
Alongside the scenery, the photographs include a purple cloth sign and a table set with several dishes. They preserve other small views from the outing.
Arriving early to relax at a hot spring
After the heat, Haruru took time to relax at a hot spring. She was glad that arriving early had meant no wait.
In her account of that day, she wrote that arriving an hour later would have meant an admission restriction. She was pleased to have reached it when she did.
Souvenirs, conversation and an early return
She bought souvenirs along the way, enjoyed plenty of conversation and laughter, and returned home early. She felt that even an outing so close to home had offered plenty to enjoy and a welcome change of pace.
