A Marunouchi lunch, Ueno shopping and a familiar bowl of anmitsu

Taking the afternoon off gave Haruru time for lunch, shopping and more food around Tokyo. The return lunch was less memorable than before, but familiar sweets in Ueno and sushi at Tokyo Station were highlights.

A return lunch at the Maru Building

Under a blue sky, Haruru photographed Tokyo Station’s red-brick building. After taking the afternoon off, she ate a course lunch featuring a braised whole shark fin at the Maru Building.

A previous meal there had impressed her enough to make her want to return. This time, though, she did not feel much of that earlier excitement. Her account keeps that difference alongside the photographs of the course.

On to Ueno for shopping

She then travelled to Ueno. The photographs include the large アメ横, Ame-yoko, sign above the shopping street.

Her purchases included sujiko, two packs of mentaiko, salmon, chūtoro and ōtoro tuna. She had been given a discount and wondered whether buying several things at one shop helped. At that point, she was still hoping the purchases would taste good.

A familiar stop at Mihashi

In Ueno, Haruru went to Mihashi (みはし), a sweets shop she tended to visit when she was in the area. The name appears in a photograph of its anmitsu display.

She chose apricot cream anmitsu, which she found delicious as usual. Her photograph shows apricots and soft serve in the bowl: a familiar sweet stop after the shopping.

Standing sushi to finish the day

The final food stop was standing sushi at Tokyo Station, which Haruru also enjoyed very much. One photograph looks closely at a piece of nigiri; another shows name tags in the display case, including 生ほたて and かんぱち.

Her afternoon had covered a return lunch, purchases in Ueno, a familiar dessert and a last stop for sushi. She closed the account with the thought of returning to work the next day.
