A ferry to Macau, a walk among the buildings and egg tarts

Haruru travelled to Macau by ferry, then walked among the city’s buildings. The weekday crowds and intense heat surprised her. Trying egg tarts at two shops also brought back a memory of the tart she had eaten at her hotel breakfast.

From haruru.1002’s past accounts.

A spacious terminal and the crossing to Macau

The spacious, clean ferry terminal made an impression on Haruru. On that occasion, the crossing to Macau took about an hour and a half. Once there, she began looking around the city’s buildings.

Buildings to see on a very hot day

Her account names the Ruins of St Paul’s, the Lisboa hotel, a casino, St Dominic’s Church, a square and the Holy House of Mercy. She looked around a variety of buildings during the walk.

Even on a weekday, there were crowds. The heat was more intense than she had expected, and the weather left her sweating as she explored.

Two shops and a breakfast favourite

After hearing about egg tarts, Haruru tried them at two shops. Comparing those with the hotel version, she thought she might prefer the less sweet tart she had eaten at the hotel.

It made her wish she had eaten more of it at breakfast.

A food display in the photographs

A shop-counter photograph shows stacked food with labels reading “Beef Jerky” and “Pork Jerky.” Alongside the account of eating egg tarts, the photographs preserve this view of a food display.

The walk was still continuing

There was still more of Macau to explore. Thinking that she would be in Tokyo around the same time the next day made the end of the trip feel close. This account pauses while the walk is still continuing.
