From Hong Kong to Shenzhen: dumplings, fruit shaved ice and a rainy-night dinner

After meeting up in Hong Kong, Haruru took the bus to Shenzhen. She had little appetite when she arrived, but enjoyed dumplings and fruit-filled shaved ice for lunch. Rain helped turn the first evening's dinner into a delivery meal.

Facing seats on the journey to Shenzhen

Rather than stop for a meal in Hong Kong, Haruru headed to Shenzhen by bus. After one change, arriving under a cloudy sky gave her that simple feeling of finally being there.

The facing seats on the local bus caught her attention. They seemed inviting, but she felt oddly restless, worried that relaxing might make her miss the stop.

Dumplings and shaved ice with watermelon and mango

She still had little appetite after reaching Shenzhen. They bought dumplings and had shaved ice delivered for lunch together. Haruru enjoyed the wrappers and juicy filling, and the dumplings suited her appetite that day.

The shaved ice had plenty of her favourite watermelon, along with mango. She loved the sweet fruit and generous serving. She hoped to have it again before leaving and was interested in another shaved-ice shop too.

Choosing delivery on a rainy evening

About two hours after lunch, the conversation had already turned to dinner. They considered walking out to eat, but it was raining and Haruru had been up early, so they chose delivery.

Skewers, oysters and vegetable dishes shared the table, and the ruibe was enjoyed too. By the end of the first evening, Haruru fell asleep readily, looking forward to the next morning's buffet.
