From sunshine at Hitsujigaoka to Nakayama Pass and views of Mount Yotei

Heavy rain on the way to Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill gave way to sunshine when I arrived. The Hokkaido day continued with autumn colours, ageimo at Nakayama Pass, an open-air bath and a mountain view on the return journey.

From haruru.1002’s past accounts.

Unexpected sunshine after a rainy journey

The rain was so heavy on the way that I thought good photographs would be difficult. Then the weather turned sunny as soon as I arrived. I joked that I must be someone who brings sunshine.

The photographs show a wooden sign reading 羊ヶ丘展望台 and a statue with BOYS, BE AMBITIOUS on its pedestal, with open sky and grassland beyond.

Autumn colours, then ageimo at Nakayama Pass

I then headed towards Nakayama Pass, passing through Jozankei along the way. The autumn colours delighted me.

At Nakayama Pass, I ate ageimo. A photograph shows a skewer of round food with a sign bearing 中山峠 and 名物.

Clouds at the bath, a mountain view on the way back

I also visited an open-air bath facing Mount Yotei. It was cloudy while I was there, so I could not see much of the mountain.

On the return journey, I was able to enjoy a beautiful view of Mount Yotei. The change in how much of the mountain I could see became another memory from the day.

Evening ramen and hopes for the following day

In the evening, I went out for miso ramen. I had hoped for a delicious bowl, but it did not quite suit my taste, and I wondered whether I should have chosen shio ramen instead.

I felt that the food had not yet lived up to my hopes for a gourmet trip. Otaru was the plan for the following day, and I ended the account hoping to find something delicious there.
