A homemade festival-style birthday party with her daughters

Haruru and her daughters prepared a festival-style birthday party at home. The homemade preparations ran late into the night, but seeing everyone pleased made the effort worthwhile.

From haruru.1002’s past accounts.

Late-night preparations and experimenting on the day

She and her daughters made the preparations for a festival-style birthday party at home. They worked until 3 a.m. and continued experimenting with the many dishes on the day.

It was a lot of work, but she enjoyed preparing it. She treasured the time the three of them could spend together in this way.

A table with festival-stall signs

The photographs show colourful stall-style signs for foods such as potatoes, corn, popcorn and chocolate bananas. Small portions and birthday decorations give the table a home-festival atmosphere.

Her account also lists simmered offal, chestnut kinton, cookies and Shine Muscat grapes with mascarpone wrapped in cured ham. She felt she had made too much, but everyone was so pleased that the effort had been worthwhile.

Signs for balloon fishing and a sweet grab

The photographs of the games show a small pool of colourful balloons beside a balloon-fishing sign, and a box labelled for a sweet grab. The game arrangements add to the festival atmosphere.

Hoping to travel together one day

She also hoped that, once her grandchildren were older, the three of them could travel together. It was a wish for the future, alongside the happy birthday celebration.
