A Friday of beef hitsumabushi, chocolate, ramen and acai

Friday turned into a day of good food for Haruru: a Hida-beef hitsumabushi lunch, followed by a chocolate specialist. She thought dinner would end with chicken paitan ramen, but stopped at the acai shop next door as well.

A generous hitsumabushi lunch

Lunch was a Hida-beef hitsumabushi set. The portion surprised Haruru, who wondered whether she could eat it all. The entrance photograph carries the signs 飛騨牛 and 安福本店.

She added broth for a change of flavour and tried it with wasabi too. Enjoying it in different ways, she ended up finishing the whole meal.

So many chocolates, and an ice-cream treat

Next came a chocolate specialist, with QUON CHOCOLATE on the exterior she photographed. There were so many varieties that Haruru was surprised a whole shop could be devoted to chocolate alone.

She was invited to try samples during that visit. Feeling hesitant about taking too many of the expensive chocolates, she tried five.

There was ice cream dipped in chocolate too. She ate it once the coating had become crisp and remembered it as rich and delicious.

Chicken paitan for dinner, down to the last of the soup

Dinner was another recommendation: chicken paitan ramen. The night-time entrance photograph carries the words 鶏そば and まくり. Haruru felt it had been carefully made, with a flavour just right for her.

She enjoyed it enough to finish the soup as well. She thought that might be the end of the day’s eating.

One more stop for acai, even after dinner

Then came the suggestion to stop at the acai shop next door. Haruru was already full, but of course she said yes. The entrance sign reads アサイー工房 豊田店.

The acai cost more than the ramen during that visit, which surprised her a little. It had been recommended, so she decided to enjoy it.

From lunch through the evening, it was a Friday of plenty of eating. Hitsumabushi, chocolate, ramen and acai all became part of that day’s memories.
