A day at ES CON, followed by an evening in Susukino

Haruru headed to ES CON Field and enjoyed walking around, eating and drinking before the game. Afterwards, she met a friend in Susukino. An izakaya meal, karaoke and a final bowl of ramen made for a full day in Hokkaido.

From haruru.1002’s past accounts.

Enjoying the ballpark before the game

Haruru wrote that she arrived around 8:30 and went straight to ES CON Field by train and taxi. There were more than three hours before the game, but walking around, buying cheering goods, eating and drinking made the time pass quickly.

An exterior photograph shows the ballpark beneath a blue sky, annotated “first visit”, “ES CON Field” and “clear weather”.

Food and drinks at the ballpark

Food was part of the pleasure of spending time at the ballpark. One photograph is labelled “Nippon Ham menu” and “plenty of Schau Essen”; another says “zangi and wine”.

Other photographs carry the labels “hamburger curry” and “still eating?”, or show a cup beneath the words “Sapporo Classic”. Each has its own short food note.

Following the changing score

Haruru enjoyed the first half as the score changed: conceding runs, catching up and falling behind again. Nippon Ham then added more runs and built a substantial lead.

She was pleased that her personal lucky pattern had held: the team she supports almost always wins when she watches. The ballpark photographs show the large roof, stands, field and player-introduction screens.

Meeting a friend in Susukino after the game

After the game, Haruru met a friend in Susukino who had moved to Hokkaido. They went to a recommended izakaya.

The meal photographs are labelled with a tsukune assortment, three recommended dishes—mountain wasabi, chanja and nishin kirikomi—and uni. Other annotations comment on the salmon and a recommended motsu stew.

Karaoke, then ramen to finish

The izakaya was followed by karaoke. A photograph of the entrance is annotated “karaoke” and “two hours”.

She finished with ramen at Yamaokaya. The name 山岡家 appears on the photographed sign and bowl. An interior photograph has a note about enjoying its retro feel; the ramen photograph describes the familiar good taste.

It was already past midnight. After a full day of eating, Haruru reached the hotel. Her account ends by saying that day two will follow.
