An early Halloween gathering with cooking shared with my daughter
For an early Halloween gathering, my daughter and I shared the cooking. There was a chestnut-filled cake, a pumpkin dish and a welcome gift from a friend.

A chestnut-filled Mont Blanc cake
With plenty of syrup-cooked chestnuts on hand, I added chopped chestnuts to the cake base and made the cream too. The result was a Mont Blanc cake filled with chestnuts.
Stuffed pumpkin and a fruit-filled salad
That year's pumpkin dish had a meat filling. I also made macaroni salad with persimmon and apple, and was pleased with its flavour.
A welcome gift from a friend
A friend joined us with a lovely bunch of Shine Muscat grapes. They were very sweet and added to the food we enjoyed at the gathering.
